Earth. A breathtaking jewel in the vast cosmos, vibrant and teeming with life, drifting through the stars... like a plump cow in a sunlit meadow... unaware of the ravenous wolves lurking in the shadows...

    **************

Welcome to the grand opening of 'Anime WarZ'! Prepare for an exhilarating journey where action meets strategy, and the thrill of combat awaits. In this first saga, players will be eased into the game mechanics—it's action-packed, but fear not: while you can lose, your character won’t meet their end.

Choose between one of the following, based on your availability and/or preferences.

    1) The Siege -- A warrior stops at a lonely inn on a desolate road, the air thick with tension. Something sinister brews just beneath the surface. This option is perfect for those seeking a fast-paced, high-octane experience with other players and can post multiple times a day.

    2) The Tournament -- A warrior enters the 2nd World Tournament, eyes set on the $10,000 prize. Breezing through preliminaries, they now face formidable opponents in the spotlight, feeling the weight of unseen eyes watching their every move. Ideal for players who can post every 1-2 days and are ready to chase glory and cash, possibly even competing against other players.

    3) The Hunt -- A warrior seeks solitude, training or meditating to hone their skills. Yet a chilling sensation reminds them they are not alone. This path suits those whose availability is currently limited, unable to commit to posting any more than once every 3 days.

    The rules are as follows

-- Don't get angry. This is designed to ease players into the system. If you make a mistake, it's OK. You'll get time to fix it. If the battle goes south, it's OK because you won't suffer any repercussions.

-- Be kind to your GM. There is a chance that I'll have to adjust rules or even change up your techniques based on how this goes. My priority is a balanced and dynamic system, not a broken one in anyone's favor.

-- The GM probably will give out advice, whether it's needed or not.

    -- Have fun!

The sun hung high in the azure sky, casting its warm glow over the sprawling arena of the World Martial Arts Tournament. Vibrant banners waved in the gentle breeze, emblazoned with the symbols of various martial arts schools from across the globe. Thousands of eager spectators filled the stands, their excited chatter a backdrop to the vibrant energy that buzzed through the air. The smell of delicious food wafted from nearby stalls, where vendors served everything from steaming bowls of ramen to sweet, sticky rice balls.

A news helicopter roars overhead, its cameras providing the whole world with a view of the iconic tournament stage.

Additional cameramen center on Blake -- a monkey in human clothing. He grabs a microphone and strikes a cheesy pose.

"Welcome, everyone, to the 2nd World Martial Arts Tournament!" The monkey cries. "A battleground where the strongest will face off for glory! This year’s lineup is more exciting than ever, featuring both seasoned veterans and fresh challengers, looking for a shot... to face..." He pauses for dramatic effect. The crowd hushes, eager to learn more.

"... Our World Champion, HERCULE SATAN!" The applause is deafening.

A burly man with a cartoonish persona flips into the ring. Hercule Satan flashes a smile at the audience and raises his arms, taking in their adulation.

"That's right, Blake. These chumps are fighting for a chance to face the Champ... Me... HERCULE SATAN!"

He throws a few punches and kicks, laughing uproariously.

    *****

    TOURNAMENT RULES

Because of the quick succession of matches, you do NOT get a chance to recover between them. This includes
    -- Lost Genki
-- Lost Stamina or Focus from exhaustion (ie, the round ending).
    -- Limb Damage.
-- Long form effects, such as bloodloss, some poisons, etc.

The tournament forbids items such as potions.

The tournament forbids weapons and armor, UNLESS you have techniques built around them.

    If you're KO'ed, you lose.

If you're knocked out of the ring, you lose.

If you get knocked into the wall (row 9 on map), you automatically take 10 damage.

The newly promoted Colonel Silver followed Staff Officer Black down the corridor, listening as Black droned on about the rules of engaging with Commander Red. "Do not stand too close to Red. Do not use words like 'big' or 'small'... or mention things that are big or small. Do not look up or down, and do not—under any circumstance—mention his height."

Black halted in front of a giant red door and knocked sharply.

"Staff Officer Black, sir. With Colonel Silver."

    "Good. Open."

Black obeyed, stepping aside for Silver. As Silver entered, he was immediately greeted by a flying knife that whizzed past him. He sidestepped with reflexes honed by countless skirmishes.

"Good reflexes," Red remarked, leaning casually against his desk. To Silver's surprise, he appeared taller than expected.

"I have a very important task for you," Red continued, pushing a folder forward with a deliberate motion. Silver stepped closer, taking the file and scanning it with lightning speed. So this was the mission. Despite his skepticism about magical objects granting wishes, orders were orders. He snapped to attention and saluted.

A smile threatened to breach Red's otherwise stern facade. "Come join me at the window."

Silver followed, only to be struck by the absurdity of the situation when Red shifted, revealing he was standing on a stool. Silver fought to keep his jaw from dropping.

Red didn’t seem to notice. The window was set at a height that kept him perfectly in place, peering out with an air of authority.

"What do you see?" Red asked, his voice low and commanding.

Silver swallowed hard. "My superior—er, former superior, sir."

"And what is he doing?" Red pressed, eyes narrowing.

Silver’s heart raced. “Standing in front of a firing squad, sir.”

“Indeed. Don't join him, Silver. Dismissed.”

Silver saluted again, adrenaline coursing through him. "Sir."

    **********

Black closed the door behind him, and Silver exhaled sharply, disbelief still lingering in his mind.

“Did I just see the Commander on a stool?”

“Not if you want to avoid getting shot. Come on, I’ll show you to your team,” Black replied, his voice flat as he motioned for Silver to follow.

    **********

Silver opened the door, and his team immediately scrambled to attention.

He started with an exceptionally muscular Majin standing stiffly at the front. “What are you called?”

“Private Pink, reporting for duty, sir!” the Majin bellowed, chest puffed out.

“Privates aren’t assigned colors. Your name,” Silver replied, his tone unyielding.

    “Magym Bro, sir.”

“Pink it is,” Silver said dryly, moving on. He walked past a pair of Elvish twins, who practically clasped hands in fear, their eyes wide. He scoffed in disgust and halted in front of an Orc, whose once-fine clothing now hung in tatters, making him resemble a hobo. The Orc wore a grin that made Silver uneasy.

    “Gorvert, is it?”

“Indeed, sir,” Gorvert answered, his smile widening unnaturally.

“What happened to the men you were supposed to accompany?”

“Butchered like pigs by the Namekian, they were. Sir.” Gorvert's grin remained, a mask of insincerity that raised alarm bells in Silver's mind.

“Those men were under my command.”

“A tragedy, sir.” Gorvert's smile didn't waver, and Silver's suspicion deepened. This conversation would definitely be revisited once the mission was over.

Silver moved to his final charge—a Saiyan clutching a stick, who wavered under his intense gaze.

“Yamu, you fled like a coward. Why shouldn’t I execute you?”

“I was making a tactical retreat, sir,” Yamu stammered, beads of sweat forming on his brow.

“You abandoned your post, resulting in the death of your comrades. That’s an offense punishable by death, just like failure.”

Yamu’s eyes widened, panic washing over his features.

Silver turned his back on him, performing a series of stretches to let the tension build in the room.

“Still, you were part of the Brown Brigade. I suppose a chance at redemption is in the cards.” He pivoted, fists raised, exuding authority. Yamu glanced at the others, but none dared to meet his gaze. With a resigned sigh, he lifted his pike.

Silver motions for him to attack. Yamu obliges, lunging forward and thrusting with his spear. It shatters against Silver's fist -- which promptly says hello to Yamu's face. Yamu drops like a sack of bricks, so Silver hits him again and again. Faelon and Faelina cower in fear. Gorvert licks his lips in excitement. Pink remains in attention, the only one behaving like a soldier as far as Silver is concerned.

Silver relents. Wipes the blood on his face.

"You're all weak. I only have about two weeks to change that. Your failures were not without consequence. You're no longer Privates. You're recruits. But if this operation is successful, you will not only be reinstated, but promoted to Sargeant. If we fail, our only reward is a firing squad. Got it?"

    Everyone salutes.

    And so the hunt begins...
